Lovers - Friends & Everything in Between

As the saying goes ‘What is meant to be will always find a way’, as was the case with Andre and Dashawn. Dashawn tells me that her and Andrea met in 2007 after catching eye contact while passing each other by. Even though both appeared shy, Dashawn she took the initiative to say a saucy “Hi you doing too”. They talked for a bit but life caused them to look contact shortly after meeting. As fate would have it they reunited in 2009 and have not let each other go since.
Both of them came into the relationship with 2 children. Dashawn at that time had a 4 year old daughter, Ms Amiyia  and a 3 year old son Dajon. Andrea has two sons. It took about 7 months before Dashawn’s kids were introduced to a man they would soon love as a father. After that introduction and his constant involvement in their lives, Andre has worked to build his own bond with the kids. What started out as his dropping off and picking the kids up from daycare 8  years ago has turned into him being present at every graduation, football game, loose tooth and every other major moment in their lives.  Being older Amiyia does acknowledges that Andre is her step-father but that doesn't change her love for him nor his adoration of her. In little Dajon eyes that has always been Dad. After 3 years of blending and bonding all both parents felt comfortable to discipline together. In 2014 they introduced the world to their son together, Prince Drelyn( this kid is the cutest little boy with a bush walking lol).
While they don’t plan on expanding their family any further, in agreeance they both said “we never know what the future might hold”. Before baby boy came along they would make sure to always take time out for each other. Whether it was through a weekly date night or even just a quiet intimate walk together. Even though as parents and adults with daily life tasks to attend to they make sure to find the time to send little flirty high school like text messages to each other. This action keeps the two of them anticipating coming home to each other every night. Even though they have in an intimate relationship, these two individuals are the best of friends. No relationship is perfect but to be in love with your best friend and to know that both of you hold each other as priority number 1 is an absolute blessing. This beautiful couple left me with a quote to live by once you are certain you have found that one, -
“Even though we are a busy family, we wouldn’t trade it for the world because our struggles make us who we are.”

I want to wish the Drake family so much continued happiness, love and success as a family.

Meet The Nashs

Tavon and Chakia Nash met in 2011 through a mutual friend. Luckily for Tavon that his god sister Erica turned out to be the best friend of his future wife. When they first started dating Chakia was the mother of then 1 year old Devan and Tavon was the father of 6 year old Tayvion. After 5 months of getting to know each other Chakia felt comfortable enough to introduce Tavon to her son. “It was comforting to see that he always would inquire about my son and his well being” says Chakia. Really, how could she not fall for someone that had decided to make her biggest priority, a priority of his own, lol. A short time later Tavon introduced his son to Chakia and the four of them began doing family activities together. The two of them never established boundaries on the children as far as how to address this new special person in their life. Being older Tayvion has always respectfully referred to his dad’s leading lady as Ms Chakia. On the contrary Tavon has been the father figure in Devan’s life since the age of 1 so he is daddy, a title that he wears proudly. Chakia became closer to Tayvion simply by being his friend and treating him like one of her own. From there the relationship between the two of them has taken off. Tavon and Chakia never stated they would discipline separately but she chooses not to discipline Tayvion beyond verbal communication.
These two love birds welcomed a child together a few years into their relationship, a little heartbreaker by the name of Taylen. They would also like to bring 1 or 2 more Nashs into the world in the future. The 3 boys have never used the term step brother. With three kids at home, these two newlyweds as of 9/12/15, keep each other as priority number 1 by having date night once a week, sending loving texts or surprise gifts. They also plan a getaway just the two of them twice a year.

I want to thank the Nash family for being the Melting Pot’s first Dish of the Month. You guys are welcome to ask questions or leave comments for them below. You can also return to the main page via the back arrow at the top of your screen.
